The Jack & Jill Foundation Launch Their 'Hares On The March' Fundraising Initiative
As one of this years chosen artists in the ‘Hares On The March’ Initiative in aid of the Jack and Jill Foundation, I have been asked to design a hare based on my own approved concept. The Hares on the March will be a public arts event, and a positive contribution to the economic, cultural and social life of the capital. One hundred 3 foot hares on 4 foot plinths will stand tall in various locations around Dublin city centre in January 2016. Most importantly the Jack and Jill Children’s Foundation will generate much needed funds from the creation of these Hares.
The theme which I have chosen is "A Hare For All Seasons”, hence the leaves. My approach shows the transition from one season to the next. Each leaf was individually chosen, scanned, cut out and pasted onto the the fibreglass sculpture. The leaves were chosen from the one tree over a period of time. This initiative appealed to me as a visual artist, and especially because I was able to use my talent for a very worthy cause.
Update: The online auction of "A Hare For All Seasons" raised €1,100. This money will help fund home nursing care for sick children. I was delighted to be part of this fundraising initiative, using my creative skills for a very worthy cause!
